During the first two weeks of September, the New Orleans District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, will host a series of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) scoping meetings to solicit public comments and provide information on the Beneficial Use of Dredged Material (BUDMAT) Program Study, a component of the Louisiana Coastal Area, Louisiana (LCA) – Ecosystem Restoration.

In May and June 2003, the LCA study team presented the calculated effects of the subprovince alternatives and the process being developed to select a comprehensive coastwide ecosystem restoration plan.

In Februaryof 2003 the Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources held a series of public meetings to present the status of LCA and to solicit comments from all interested parties and the public at large. The effects of such a comprehensive coastwide ecosystem restoration plan will be far reaching. Your participation is vital to the successful outcome of the study.

Meeting Details

April 2002
A series of public meetings were held April 15 - 24, 2002 to solicit input from individuals about which LCA regional ecosystem restoration strategies should be given highest priority. These strategies were developed in 1998 during the Coast 2050 planning process. The LCA study will build on these restoration strategies, which are presented in the Coast 2050 Plan and the May 1999, Reconnaissance Report "Section 905(b) (WRDA 86) Analysis: Louisiana Coastal Area, Louisiana-Ecosystem Restoration."
